My first shoujo-ai pic, featuring the ever lovely Hitomi (bottom) and Lei Fang (top), from Dead or Alive, of course. Certainly the most believable pairing of the series, and it's nice to dream. Funnily enough, that's what they're doing here, too. As if you couldn't tell from all the feathers, this is a post-pillow fight scene, where the girls have collapsed on the bed together in their sexy lingerie, and are now having a peaceful nap. As I said in the lineart ([link]), not to everyone's taste, but well, it is to mine! Produced in PS7 and with use of tablet.
In the drawing phases, this was originally supposed to be set on the beach, or on a sofa, with Hitomi sitting up and both girls awake, but it gradually just evolved into this. I wanted to go for a simpler style than what I usually do for my colour, but in the end, I think it pretty much turned out the same. Oh well. It was a simplified method of production, at least. Of course, the lighting is fairly simple, but it took less time to colour this than it usually does, so I'm glad about that. I also used folders for my layers, for the first time here, which was a major stress-reliever, and something I'll be doing in every future pic. Absolutely essential for this kind of thing particularly, where there's multiple objects in there. In the sketch, Nyuna suggested I alter Lei's hips, which I definately agreed with, and was pretty much the only thing I changed about the lineart. Sometimes I look at Hitomi there and wonder if her body looks a bit too long, or something. There's something not quite right there, I feel, but it's not enough to distract me too much, as for me, this is one of my pics that captures alot of emotion in it. In this case, the emotion of "Awwww!!". I like the lingerie, which I used source pics to help me with, and I think that helped alot. The hair is really nice and flowing, particulaly Lei Fang's, and I like their peaceful, smiling faces. Their skin is quite good too, and I tried to give them slightly different tones, although they came out a bit more similar than how they started. I had a hard time deciding on a background, and I actually even tried putting them in a bedroom, which failed miserably. In the end, I found that really nice, blossomy brush in Photoshop, and used that to create the sweet, pinky, girly atmosphere, which I'm rather pleased with. Not 100% sure about those teddies, but I guess they'll do. Also, the feathers. They were the very last thing I did, in their entirity, and I downloaded special feather brushes that my good friend Kez linked me to, which worked a helluva lot better, and a damn sight easier than just drawing them all myself. They look quite good, but the ones on the sheets are supposed to be laying on there, but I think the scene looks a bit more like it's raining feathers. I dunno, what do you think? Do they distract you at all? I'm unsure. Overall though, I think I'm satisfied with this little number, and they look pretty damn cute too. So, lay it on me, people! |

Anyway this is probly one of the best I've seen with the two. So kudos for that.

I must lie down where all the ladders start,
In the foul rag-and-bone shop of the heart.
Either way, it's without a doubt more than worthy of a favourite, as it's absolutely brilliant.
